Eruma plc Contract Wins Worth £85,000
Eruma plc, the AIM traded specialist provider of counter terrorism, intruder
prevention products and intelligent lighting, is pleased to announce that it has
won a number of contracts through its wholly owned subsidiary, Security Blinds
Ltd (‘Security Blinds’), totalling £85,000. Security Blinds has two key
products, the Secur™ range of security blinds and the Anti Ram Raid Gate,
offering high quality intruder and counter terrorism protection solutions to
clients operating in both the public and commercial sectors.
Eruma has been awarded a contract to install Secur™ security blinds at a high
protection facility for a new blue-chip financial services client in northern
Europe. The contract is worth £47,400 and provides the Company with its first
contract of this kind in northern Europe outside of the UK. This win follows a
concerted campaign in the European security sector to demonstrate the quality of
Eruma’s products in counteracting threats from terrorism and intruders. It is
the first of its kind in the region further to a referral based on the Company’s
reputation in the financial services sector.
Additionally, Eruma has been selected by a client operating in the construction
industry to install its Anti Ram Raid gate at nine separate industrial units
containing highly valuable goods across the UK. The total contract value for
this single client throughout 2010 so far has been £35,500 and with over 300
units throughout the UK, this has the potential to be extended. Furthermore,
there are a vast number of companies in the UK which use industrial unit
facilities, some of which store assets which can be difficult to insure, thus
creating a significant market for the Anti Ram Raid Gate. The Anti Ram Raid
Gate, which can be rapidly deployed, provides customers with a reduced risk of
thefts as well as reducing damage inflicted on the storage unit itself.
Eruma Chief Executive Wayne Money said, “Our technology is proven to provide
critical facility protection and is suitable for corporations operating across a
range of sectors. With this is mind, we have seen an escalation in sales both
through new business wins and repeat orders for Security Blinds’ products.
Importantly, our products are simple to deploy, making our offering more
attractive for customers looking to increase security across a number of
locations in a short amount of time which, combined with our focus on developing
client relationships, has led to multiple client contracts.”

Launch of New Anti-Burglary Products
Eruma plc, the AIM traded specialist provider of counter terrorism and burglary protection products and emergency lighting has developed and launched two new fully proprietary products aimed at the retail and industrial / warehousing markets, to complement its existing security product offerings.
The first product, the Concertina Secur, has been developed to address the needs of clients who require unencumbered access to windows and doorways in addition to the unrivalled security benefits that the Security Blinds system offers. The new product utilises a continuous hinge system and retracts into a limited space offering greater versatility for prospective clients. The Company has developed this product to meet the particular needs of the retail sector where clients need out of hours protection from attack via shop windows.
In addition, the Company has developed a new retractable gate designed to increase the security of premises that utilise roller shutters, such as those commonly deployed at warehouses and delivery depots to allow access for larger vehicles. The anchored gates developed by Security Blinds, are designed to resist ram-raid attacks and prevent shutters from being forced open by jacks or breached by angle grinders, both common methods employed by thieves targeting such buildings. Target markets for this product include businesses such as building, plumbing and DIY outlets. The Company is currently in talks with a number of major distribution companies.
Eruma Business Development Director, Alan Davis said, "I am delighted that our investment into research and development has resulted in these new products. The Secur Concertina blind complements our existing Security Blinds products, offering greater versatility and choice to our customers, without compromising the high levels of security on which we pride ourselves.
"The development of the anti-ram retractable gate is particularly exciting for the Company. The product will open up an entirely new target market, offering increased protection for any business operating warehouses vulnerable to ram-raid attack from large vehicles. Potential target markets include supermarket warehouses and delivery companies and we have already received a number of enquiries from businesses operating such premises."

Eruma plc - Philips to Market Eruma’s Emergency Lighting Range
Eruma plc, the AIM traded specialist
provider of counter terrorism and burglary protection products and emergency
lighting has, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Illuminex Ltd (‘Illuminex’),
entered into an agreement whereby Philips Lighting UK, the UK lighting division
of Royal Philips Electronics, will market and distribute the DALI protocol
version of Illuminex’s Xscape Series emergency lighting product range in the
UK.
Philips Lighting UK Managing
Director Paul Coggins said, “I am delighted with the agreement with Illuminex
because it supports our strategy of bringing controllable, environmentally
friendly and energy efficient lighting solutions to our customers. Emergency lighting provides a significant
market opportunity for Philips and we anticipate sales in excess of £1 million
within our first year.”
Illuminex supplies state-of-the-art
emergency lighting systems designed to provide superior performance and reduce
both fiscal and environmental costs compared to conventional systems. Its Xscape series of
products incorporates the Philips ‘K2’ and ‘Rebel’ light emitting diode (‘LED’)
technology. This LED technology,
together with the use of lithium battery technology and microprocessor control,
provides considerable benefits including up to a 98% reduction in energy
consumption when compared with a standard 8 Watt fluorescent tube
luminaire. Furthermore, The typical life expectancy of an 8 Watt
fluorescent tube is 6-8000 hours and for higher wattage tubes 10-12,000
hours. The life expectancy of the LED
technology is 60,000 hours – 5-10 times longer. The life expectancy of the Lithium Ion battery is also 60,000
hours – twice the average life of Nickel Cadmium technology. This represents significant savings in both
manpower and replacement materials.
Importantly, the intelligent products also have inbuilt
automatic testing capabilities and internal memories for retrieval of data at
any time, which not only ensure that all the major components are fully
monitored according to the stipulated code of practice for emergency lighting,
but also keep maintenance costs to a minimum.
Finally, under EU legislation,
the Xscape range of products, excluding batteries, do not have any waste
disposal issues unlike all other products on the market which are classed as
WEEE (Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment) and need to be specially
processed at the end of their useful life.
Eruma CEO Wayne Money said, “This
agreement is part of our strategy to market our products to ensure that we
achieve maximum market penetration of our emergency lighting range. We are proud to be working with such a well
known and respected brand as Philips, and believe that with its support, the
Illuminex range will become increasingly popular with large corporates and
government organisations.”

Letter to Shareholders
Dear Shareholder,
Much has happened over the last year and I am pleased to
report that we continue to make strong progress in building the business both
organically and through acquisition. We now have an expanding company focused
in three major markets, Security Blinds targeted against burglary and forced
entry, counter terrorism
products including bomb and bomb-blast protection and emergency lighting, with
particular emphasis in the public sector markets. With increased spending in
all three areas of activity, particularly in counter terrorism, where Gordon
Brown recently underlined his commitment to increasing security in the UK, I
believe we are very well positioned to take advantage of these new government
initiatives.
As you are aware, our initial strategy was to position the
Company as a specialist provider of physical security systems to the corporate,
commercial and domestic markets, mainly targeting products to stop
burglary. This part of the business has
been our mainstay and has contributed significantly to our order growth in the
past twelve months. Through specialist testing, we have created a range of
Security Blinds, Secur™, Secur™ Plus and Secur ™ Ultra, which have opened up an
entire new market in the form of anti-terrorist products. With terrorist
threats and attacks becoming more serious both within the UK and globally, we
now have the opportunity to exploit this rapidly growing market with our
products which we believe to be the only solution for blast protection against
the threat of high level bomb attacks.
Our solutions have already led to more interest from other government
departments.
As part of our aggressive growth strategy, in July we
acquired Illuminex, which has a range of unique and fully developed Light Emitting
Diode (LED) products to provide intelligent emergency lighting systems. The Xscape series has been created to
take full advantage of the latest in solid state light source and battery
technologies. Blended with a unique design concept, the product range provides
users with significant improvements in performance, a reduction in cost of
ownership and a reduced impact on the environment.
Our emergency lighting subsidiary, Illuminex, is a natural
fit for Eruma, as it enhances our product offering when targeting our existing
portfolio of prospective clients, particularly in the public sector.
Legislation mandates that all public buildings must regularly test their
emergency lighting products, monthly and annually. The Illuminex Xscape series
of products not only fulfils the requirement for testing but via intelligent
microprocessor technology, the whole building can be automatically monitored
and records kept of the test results. All of the testing requirements of
BS5266, the code of practice for emergency lighting, are carried out
automatically, therefore significantly reducing the cost associated with
maintenance. All this can be carried out remotely and together with its modular
design provides a unique solution with state of the art technology and networking
capabilities.
Additionally, the product has green credentials which
eliminate the use of heavy metals such as mercury found in fluorescent tubes or
cadmium found in batteries which reduces the liabilities associated with
recycling these materials. Xscape also consumes 98% less electricity than is
typically consumed by conventional lighting products that proliferate in the
market currently. This is exciting for Eruma which gives us opportunities to
sell through direct and indirect
channels in UK, Europe and globally.
Gordon Brown’s latest National Security announcement on 14th
November opened a huge market for companies providing products which prevent
damage from terrorist bombs. As already mentioned, I firmly believe that Eruma
is uniquely positioned in this market place. We recently announced that our
latest test on the enhanced Security Blind product successfully withstood a
very large vehicle bomb in excess of 1,000 pounds TNT equivalent - five times
the size of previous explosive blast tests. I am not aware of any other
business anywhere in the world that has the same capability in blast mitigation
against terrorist attack and the protection of windows.
In his speech the Prime Minister stated, “new guidance to be
sent to thousands of cinemas, theatres, restaurants, hotels, sporting venues
and commercial centres, and all hospitals, schools and places of worship” in
relation to installing “robust physical barriers as protection against vehicle
bomb attacks” and “making buildings blast resistant” in response to the recent
June terror attacks in London and Glasgow. With this in mind, we are marketing
our products into areas where protection of people, buildings, assets and the
continuity of business are of paramount importance.
The Prime Minister proposed that the UK’s security budget of
£2.5 billion this year, which is three times as much compared with six years
ago, should be raised to £3.5 billion by 2011.
He also stated that “we will now work with architects and planners to
encourage them to ‘design-in’ protective security measures into new buildings,
including safe areas, traffic control measures and the use of blast resistant
materials”. This is extremely positive
news for Eruma as we now find ourselves in a position where future growth of projected
sales of our flagship product Secur™ from Security Blinds, has the backing of
the Government’s initiatives in the above mentioned markets.
Through our offering we have already built what I believe to
be an impressive client list such as Police Constabularies, High Street Banks,
Utilities, Schools and Universities, Local Government and Blue Chip
Organisations. At this stage in our
development we are building on our continued growth in the UK but also have
significant plans to continue our expansion into the US and Europe where we see
huge market potential for our products. We will continue to target more
corporations and government bodies and seek further acquisitions which we
believe to be a good fit in growing Eruma and its portfolio.
We will continue to inform you of your company’s progress via this
newsletter and if you are agreeable we will forward you any future information
by Eruma plc electronically. Please send your email address to info@erumaplc.com.
I remain very upbeat with regard to our prospects and look
forward to updating you on developments going forward. I would also like to
wish you a very happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.
Yours sincerely
Wayne Money

Bomb Testing
Results
Eruma plc, the parent company of
Security Blinds Ltd, specialists
in products to counteract terrorism and burglary, has successfully
undertaken
tests on an enhanced Security Blinds product.
On 23 October 2007, the Security
Blinds product was
subjected to a bomb of more than 1,000 pounds of TNT equivalent. This was five times the
size of the
explosive charge that the Security Blinds product had previously been
tested
against and was designed to simulate a large car bomb.
The test was carried out by Advantica Ltd at
their test site at Spadeadam in Cumbria and the Security Blinds product
successfully
withstood the blast. The test was undertaken to satisfy both USA and UK
requirements with regard to the size of the window, the size of the
explosive
device and the distance from the explosive device to the window system.
In addition, on 29 October 2007, the
product was
successfully tested to exceed US Department of State regulatory
standards
against physical entry by the BRE (Building Research Establishment) at
their
site in Watford.
Phil Garfinkle (Managing Partner of
Trust Strategy Group,
Eruma’s American partner) who witnessed the bomb test said, “These
tests are
very important for us in the United States, as well as for Eruma in the
UK, for
combating the terrorist threat. The
results are great news and will open up many opportunities in the
United States
both with the GSA (General Sales Administration) and other relevant
government
entities. These
accreditations are a
pre-requisite in the government, military and commercial sectors”
Wayne Money (CEO of Eruma) said "This is a significant step forward for
the Company. With the current threat of increasing co-ordinated
terrorist acitivity the unique design of the Security Blind system now
enables it to withstand very large vehicle bombs and puts the product
firmly on the world stage."

Acquisition of
Illuminex Ltd
The
board of Directors of Eruma, parent company of Security Blinds, are
delighted to announce the acquisition of Illuminex and the associated
intellectual property rights in respect of the emergency and security
lighting systems developed by the company.
Illuminex
has fully
developed products using Lighting Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to provide
emergency lighting systems for public sector and commercial buildings
which have a much reduced power consumption compared to existing
products. The state-of-the art technology can be managed
remotely
allowing low-cost maintenance in such environments and currently, the
Directors believe, has no known competition offering anything like the
Illuminex systems. Health and Safety legislation in the UK
dictates that it is a requirement for such premises to have back-up
lighting in the event of a power cut or lighting failure.
Eruma
has agreed to issue 5,000,000 shares on completion to acquire 100% of
the share capital of Illuminex from its existing shareholders, valuing
the consideration at £350,000 at the placing price at 7p as described
below. In addition, Eruma has placed 10,800,000 shares at 7p to raise
£756,000. This will be used to build the sales and marketing
for
Illuminex and to provide working capital to create volume stocks of the
new product. Application will be made for the new ordinary
shares
of 1p each, which will rank,
pari
passu,
with all existing ordinary shares to be admitted to trading on AIM.
Wayne Money, Chief Executive of Eruma, said; "this is the
perfect
addition to our portfolio selling to the same customers in our existing
security market and Illuminex products will complement Eruma's current
offerings. The Directors are confident that this will enable
Eruma plc to reach profitable status more quickly".

2006, the first full 12 month trading period for Eruma was highly
successful with the company exceeding its objectives. Investment in
people, processes and marketing activity resulted in significant
growth. Orders for the year showed an increase of more than seven fold
and installations for the year showed an almost six fold increase over
the reported revenues for 2005. This increase has been brought about by
recruitment of high calibre sales professionals, focused campaigns in
our chosen vertical markets, ongoing training of staff with particular
emphasis in the sales function.
. Strengthening of the sales function with the recruitment of a
Business Development Director, the establishment of a marketing
department and the recruitment of high level sales executives.
. The signing of a Sales and Distribution Licence with an American
partner. The first significant order was received prior to the year end.
. Broadening of the customer base in the areas of education,
particularly schools and universities, financial institutions,
utilities and various police constabularies.
. Significant
repeat business is being obtained from our major blue chip client base.
. Increase in average order value coupled with a higher gross margin.
I am pleased to report that the outlook for 2007 remains strong with
our outsourcing strategy progressing well with the appointment of two
companies to assist with our manufacturing demand.
The investment in marketing activities has led to the identification of
significant sales opportunities which we are now pursuing. Your board
is committed to expanding the Company's business outside of the UK, in
Europe and the USA and is optimistic about the substantial revenue
opportunities available in these areas.
I am particularly delighted to be able to report that the orders taken
by your Company to the end of May 2007 already exceed our total revenue
for 2006. I am confident that we will continue to deliver high levels
of growth for the remainder of the year.
